Nonviolent Peaceforce is an incredible NGO working to build a global culture where conflict – whether it's within or between communities and countries – is addressed through unarmed strategies instead of violence.

In the United States, conflict is increasingly taking the form of political violence – but this doesn't just mean attacks on those in power. It means the hate crimes and intimidation experienced by communities, grassroots organisations and individuals both online and irl. It means ordinary people being attacked verbally and physically because of their race, religion, sexuality, gender identity or political beliefs.

With tensions expected to rise even further around the 2024 US election, Nonviolent Peaceforce wanted to raise awareness of their work in America and secure vital funding too. So they asked us to create a 40-second film that would help them do just that in the lead-up to the election and beyond.

Using found footage and stills, we set out to capture the awful reality of political violence, without sensationalising it, alongside the hope and practical solutions that NP provides.. The result is a promo which shows people that creating safety and building peace without violence is possible – and essential.
