Amnesty X Be There programme: Impact films

From 2019 to 2025, Amnesty’s Be Their programme brought together their Crisis Response and Refugee & Migrant Rights work in order to strengthen their global capacity to support people being affected by conflict, violence and displacement.

And at the end of each year we had the privilege of partnering with Amnesty to produce an annual Be There impact film that:

  • Centered powerful human stories

  • Showcased what had been achieved

  • Explained why that impact was possible

  • Highlighted what still needed to be done

  • Mobilised global support

  • Secured continued programme funding

My role was to go through all the amazing work that Be There had done over the previous 12 months and find a theme that we could use to create the film’s narrative thread. Once we’d established that, I’d work on topline creative approaches to bring our theme to life conceptually and visually.

With that in place I’d put together an initial narrative structure/paper edit and interview questions that Fred (Director and Editor) could use as a base for creating the actual films. And finally, I’d be on hand as a fresh pair of eyes once the edit was done.

Impact of the Impact films:

  • Used in global annual donor reports, fundraising and strategic pitches

  • Helped raise between £1M and £2M+ each year through donor engagement

My role: Story themes | Creative concepts | Narrative structures | Topline scripts/paper edits | Topic areas & key questions for interviews

What we created: Concepts | Creative direction | Motion Graphics | 6 x Impact films
